Can Claude be your motion design studio?
The catch: it only writes the code
Viral reels say Claude can be your motion design studio. We render every short on this channel from code, so we checked the docs, the licenses and our own render logs.

- Catch
- A CODER, NOT A STUDIO
- Verdict
- An engine, not a studio
In October 2026, reels kept making the same promise: build a whole motion design studio with Claude Opus 5.5. We had a head start on checking it, because every short on this channel is rendered from code with Remotion. (Disclosure: we use Remotion under its free license, and nobody sponsored this post.) Here's what the docs say, what it costs, and where it breaks.
The workflow is real
Claude doesn't draw the video. It writes code, and a render engine turns that code into frames. With Remotion the code is React; with HyperFrames, from HeyGen, it's plain HTML. Per the HyperFrames README, both render the same way: a headless Chrome browser draws every frame, and FFmpeg encodes the frames into an MP4.
Both projects publish official agent skills for Claude Code, and Remotion's docs say you can create videos just from prompting. HyperFrames had 71,846 GitHub stars on October 25, 2026, with 5,633 of them that week.

What it costs
Prices as of October 2026. Check the current terms before you buy.
| Piece | Cost |
|---|---|
| Claude Code | Needs a Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise or Console account; the free claude.ai plan doesn't include it |
| Remotion | Free for individuals and for companies of up to 3 people |
| Remotion, 4 or more people | Company License: $25 a month per person who writes Remotion code, by hand or with coding agents |
| HyperFrames | Apache 2.0, no per-render fees |
For Remotion, eligibility depends on the company's total headcount, not just the people making videos.

The catch
Claude is the coder, not the studio. HyperFrames' own comparison guide says it asks you to follow rules (a paused timeline, no wall clocks, no unseeded randomness) and that it "breaks quietly" if you don't: miss the timeline registration and you get a still frame with no motion. Both tools ship visual editors, but the same guide says neither replaces editing the source for real structural changes.
Our own render logs say the same thing from the other side: our previous short took four full renders before every card fit.

Verdict
A real render engine, not a studio in a box. If you can describe what you want and you're willing to check every frame, Claude with Remotion or HyperFrames is a genuinely fast way to make motion graphics. Taste, story and checking the result are still your job.
If you work in motion design and you're wondering what this means for you, try the tools on a real brief, and talk it through with your team or a mentor before making big decisions.
