Verdict
OLD AGE, HEALTHY GUT

Scientists in Barcelona ran a full biological workup on Maria Branyas, who lived to 117. Her gut was dominated by Bifidobacterium, a microbe that usually declines with age, her epigenetic age was younger than her real age, and her inflammation was low. She ate yogurt daily, but this is one person and the study cannot show that yogurt caused any of it. She also carried rare protective gene variants.
